Where is Russia using all of their copper? Are they making an even bigger Statue of Liberty than our own? Are they making an amp that’s good enough for one of Vladimir Putin’s sweet guitar solos? All we know for certain is that they’re not using much copper in their ammunition.

But it’s all good, because the less valuable copper a 223 Rem cartridge contains, the more affordable it becomes. This round’s 55 grain bullet features a bimetal jacket, which has a thin layer of copper on the outside to promote smooth functionality and another layer of steel on the inside to provide the strength requisite to avoid deformation. (It’s absolutely magnetic.)

Wolf’s steel case is another cost-saving feature. The Russian manufacturer’s polymer coating doesn’t singe off as readily as old-fashioned lacquer, and it also reduces metal-on-metal friction to help a rifle feed and extract with greater reliability.

Wolf’s Berdan primers even further reduce their production costs. This new production ammo is still totally non-corrosive, yet between its inelastic steel cases and Berdan primers you’ll most certainly agree it’s not good for handloading. But it is good for low budget range time with your AR-15!
