Winchester - Polymer Tipped - 20 Grain 17 Winchester Super Mag Ammo - 50 Rounds
Details
Winchester’s .17 Super Magnum cartridge was introduced at the 2013 SHOT show and took the rimfire .17 selection to a new level. Its parent case was not a ballistic cartridge at all but instead a .27 caliber nail gun blank. The thicker case of the blank casing allowed for more pressure to be generated, pushing the caliber to the 3000 feet per second range. While the number of firearms currently available with this chamber is somewhat limited, the caliber is winning converts and there is even an AR variant. Winchester’s 20 grain poly tipped bullet reaches the 3000 fps mark with up to 400 foot pounds of energy. Certainly, an acceptable varmint or small game round as well as suitable for precision shooting.
The Winchester name is among the oldest and most recognized of American arms and ammunition manufacturing. Currently based in Clayton, Missouri, the quality of ammunition in bullet types as well as casings are well established, although these rimfire cases cannot be reloaded. Despite being synonymous with the “Old West”, the Winchester Repeating Arms ammunition company is not resting on its laurels but is still turning out cutting edge technology as is made evident by the introduction of this hyper-velocity cartridge.
