Winchester - Full Metal Jacket M855 - 62 Grain 5.56x45mm Ammo - 1000 Rounds

We usually only find steel in our bullets when they come from Russia, but 5.56x45 M855 ammo is an exception. Winchester’s American-made M855 bullets attract a magnet because they conceal steel penetrator tips!

This cartridge’s 62 grain FMJ bullet has green paint on its tip to indicate that it has a seven-grain solid steel penetrator core. Although the rear half of the M855 bullet is still made of lead, its hard front section permits it to pass through a 1/8” thick sheet of steel at ranges up to around 2,000 feet.

The M855 projectile can also penetrate soft tissue to a depth of 15 to 20”. You can still make great use of M855 ammo if you just want to take your AR-15 to the range – so long as that range hasn’t banned magnetic projectiles, that is!

This newly manufactured ammo is reloadable courtesy of its non-corrosive Boxer primers and robust heat-treated shell cases. You will see that the cases are discolored around and below their necks, but that’s just because Winchester saved time by not buffing out the annealing marks.
