We have Winchester 7.62x51 ammunition piled up in our warehouse just waiting to go to a good home – like yours! Order this case of ammo for any semi-automatic or bolt-action rifle, even if it is chambered for 308. The 7.62x51 round’s dimensions are nearly one-to-one identical, and its slightly lower chamber pressure poses no risk of damage to a 308 rifle.

This ammo is superb for target shooting. Each round’s 149 grain bullet is streamlined, balanced, and jacketed for smooth rapid feeding in a semi-auto. An FMJ’s lack of a nose cavity makes it poorly suited for taking whitetail and such, although the 7.62x51’s big-time power will quickly kill a varmint or predator as well as neutralize a threat. Winchester’s rigid jacket won’t deform during ignition, but it does contain steel and will set off a magnet.

These aren’t the most photogenic cartridges, but that’s not because they’re military surplus that has been sitting around for a long time or reloaded. Their cases are discolored because they have been annealed (aka heat-treated) to make then suppler and more durable. Non-corrosive primers and low-fouling powder make this ammo pretty clean-shooting to boot!
