This cartridge’s bullet gives you a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps, and its 0.248 ballistic coefficient means it keeps a respectably flat trajectory while simultaneously resisting wind drift throughout the 223’s standard effective range. The bullet’s copper jacket doesn’t just help a semi-auto feed more reliably. It also prevents lead fouling which results in lower accuracy. This type of bullet may even fragment apart inside of soft tissue, though it’s not going to mushroom like a bullet that is specifically designed for hunting or personal protection.

These American-made cartridges feature robust heat-treated cases. They retain their elasticity to promote smoother extraction, thus helping to prevent an inconvenient jam. Winchester doesn’t bother to polish the case after it’s been annealed, so it’s still gray around its shoulder. This new production ammo’s primers are of course non-corrosive, and as Boxers they’re perfect if you intend to reload the cases.
