Details

The deer have a big problem on their hands (or more accurately their hooves). You’re coming for them with your 270 Win rifle, and you’ve just discovered the motherlode of Winchester’s Deer Season XP ammunition.

This round isn’t loaded with any ordinary polymer tipped bullet. It is the Extreme Point, which features a polymer tip so large that it constitutes nearly half of the bullet’s frontal surface. That makes the Extreme Point especially aerodynamic. It also allows it to trigger faster-than-normal expansion, thus maximizing trauma to the quarry on impact.

This round’s 0.457 G1 BC bullet conserves approximately two thirds of its velocity by the time it reaches 500 yards. If you’re centered up 1.5” and aiming to 200 yards, drop at 300 would be roughly -6.3”. If there’s a 10 mph wind blowing in at a right angle, the flat base bullet would only stray about 2.6” at 200 yards.

Winchester’s shiny new brass cases aren’t worth their weight in gold – but they are certainly worth their weight in brass if you intend to handload them!
