If you plan on shooting targets at an indoor range, then conventional 9mm target ammo is going to expose you to vaporized lead. That’s because a full metal jacket bullet’s jacket isn’t actually “full.” It leaves the base of the lead core exposed to exploding propellant, which blasts vaporized lead every which way during ignition.

Speer’s Lawman series 9mm ammo solves the lead aerosolization problem with its 124 grain total metal jacket bullet. The TMJ’s jacket totally surrounds its lead core, so exploding propellant can’t evaporate any toxic heavy metal off of the bullet.

This round’s 1,090 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 4” barrel. That’ll treat you to slightly less recoil than Speer’s full-power Gold Dot 124 grain JHP load. This round is also loaded with a reusable brass case, as well as a noncorrosive Boxer primer which does contain some lead styphnate – the reason why we can’t bill this ammo as truly “lead-free.”
