Details
Speer produces their Law Enforcement Gold Dot duty ammunition for professionals. You may not be a cop, but if you consider it your job to defend yourself and your family, then you’ve every right to order this first-rate Idaho-made 308 Win ammunition.
The Gold Dot bonded soft point bullet is built for accuracy. Once the 168 grain SP screams out of a 24” barrel at a velocity of 2,650 fps, its 0.446 G1 BC will ensure that it reaches a 200-yard zero with 1,913 ft lbs of energy and then proceed to drop -9.0” at 300 yards (assuming your sights are 1.5” above the bore line).
The Gold Dot owes much of its outstanding rotational stability to its totally concentric electrochemically fused jacket. Its tough shell is also the reason why the bullet sheds so little weight as it penetrates barriers. According to Speer’s own tests, the Gold Dot penetrates sheet metal and 21.25” of ballistic gelatin without losing more than 25% of its weight in the process. The bullet expands to a width of 0.478” under the same conditions. When fired through heavy clothing, the bullet retains almost 90% of its weight, penetrates ballistic gel to a depth of 22.5”, and expands to a diameter of 0.497”.
This ammunition is designed to function correctly in all 308 Win firearms, including ones with especially short barrels. Speer’s nickel-plated brass cases are reloadable, smooth cycling, and protected against corrosion and tarnishing.
