Details
The world is an uncertain place. Your 9mm +P self-defense ammo shouldn’t be part of that problem. When you choose Speer LE Gold Dot Duty Ammunition, you’re getting a respected Idahoan company’s best effort providing much-needed certainty to law enforcement professionals. Even if you’re not a cop, you deserve the same assurance.
This cartridge sports a 124 grain bullet, and it is overpressure; “+P” means it is loaded hotter than standard, and delivers a faster velocity (1,220 fps w/4” barrel), flatter trajectory, and more kinetic energy (362 ft lbs at 25 yards) as a result. It does produce more recoil, however, and is not able to be safely fired in an older firearm that isn’t +P rated.
This cartridge’s bullet isn’t just a middleweight. It’s also Speer’s Gold Dot: a bonded bullet, which loses 0% of its weight after penetrating multiple layers of heavy fabric at close range. The jacketed hollow point’s nose cavity also remains effective after passing through a barrier, and will expand in diameter by approximately 70% after striking fabric-covered ballistic gelatin.
Nickel-plated brass cases are a welcome finishing touch. The shiny metal is easier to see in the dark, resistant against corrosion, and smoother than brass to help support more reliable functionality in semi-automatics.
