Sellier & Bellot - Soft Point - 45 Grain 22 Hornet Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
Initially developed in 1930 as a wildcat cartridge, the .22 Hornet was designed as a hard hitting varmint round for custom gunmakers. It was not until 1932 that a commercially available firearm was manufactured to chamber it, but for the next almost sixty years it was the smallest, commercially available centerfire rifle cartridge, and therefor reloadable as well as hand loadable. The US Air Force chose the caliber for the survival rifles given to aircrews to be included with their bail out gear: in fact it was a round that caused some potential trouble for the US armed forces as regards to the Hague agreement banning expanding bullets in war. Cartridges included in survival gear were specifically stamped not for use in war. The 45 grain soft point bullet by Sellier & Bellot has a muzzle velocity of 2346 feet per second with 550 foot pounds of energy. This round is precisely what the Hornet was designed for: hunting.
Sellier & Bellot has been a Czech munitions manufacturer since the 1820 and has, in all that time, provided premium quality in performance and components. The latter is important when considering more uncommon rounds such as the .22 Hornet that have reloading potential.
