Sellier & Bellot - Soft Point - 140 Grain 7x64mm Brenneke Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
Developed by Wilhelm Benneke in 1917, the 7x64 is a necked down version of his earlier round in 8mm. By going down to 7, Brenneke created a round that was very ballistically similar to the .30-06 Springfield, yet could be easily used in rechambered Germany’s Mauser model 98 bolt action rifles. While never adopted for military use – though the Wehrmacht did consider it as a sniper rifle alternative before thinking better on it for logistical reasons – the caliber has long been very popular in central Europe for hunting everything from small to middle large game, depending on bullet weight. The 140 grain, soft point bullet by Sellier & Bellot has a muzzle velocity of 2,808 feet per second with 2,451 foot pounds of energy. This is a very competent deer hunting round for distances up to and including long range game and silhouette shooting.
The Czech company Sellier & Bellot has been making ammunition and ammunition components since the 1820’s. In that time, they have manufactured virtually every single caliber ever conceived. Renowned for the reliable performance and quality components including reloadable cases: a definite plus for shooters of this less common caliber in the USA.
