Sellier & Bellot - Full Metal Jacket - 147 Grain 308 Winchester Ammo - 500 Rounds
Details
The .308 Winchester was developed out of a perceived need for a shorter cased rifle round for use in semi and full automatic firearms for the US military. Development of the Garand and technical improvements machine guns kept the .30-06 Springfield round in use for the US through World War II, but by 1954 the need to logistically conform to an international military alliance (NATO) pushed the need for the shorter cartridge. That cartridge, the 7.62x51 NATO was preceded two years before by the .308 Winchester, of virtually identical dimensions yet loaded to slightly higher pressures. .308 and 7.62mm NATO however can be loaded into firearms of either chambering. The 147 grain full metal jacket round by Sellier & Bellot has a muzzle velocity of 2788 feet per second with 2538 foot pounds of energy. This is a target grade round in a 500 round case ideal for competitions as well as target shooting.
Sellier & Bellot's presence in the United States is accompanied by a reputation for quality and dependability expected of an ammunition manufacturer with almost two centuries of history. The brass cases of the .308 ammunition are fully reloadable for additional value of this case of ammunition.
