Details

Developed for use in the Model 1889 Mauser Rifle, the 7.65x53 cartridge is one of the earliest of the modern, smokeless powder military rounds. It is the result of Paul Mauser’s tinkering to find a balance between bullet diameter size and aerodynamics in response to France’s revolutionary 8mm Lebel. Used extensively, though not exclusively, by Belgium and Argentina, with the latter nation’s forces actively using it into the 1970’s as it was comparable to the modern 7.62x51 NATO cartridge that ultimately replaced almost all non-Warsaw Pact military calibers.

PRVI’s 174 grain, full metal jacketed round has a muzzle velocity of 2625 feet per second with 2661 foot pounds of energy. It is made for keeping the older rifles active at the range for either target shooting and especially competitive shooting.

Partizan is one of the most prolific manufacturers of this caliber as so far as US production is concerned, only Hornady still makes the 7.65 Argentine. Serbia’s PRVI produces its commercial line to military dependability standards. Thankfully, PRVI offers it in a standard load that will not break the bank keeping the historical representatives firing away at the range. Further, PRVI brass is boxer primed and reloadable for the shooters of this less frequently found caliber.
