Magtech - Lead Flat Nose - 200 Grain 44-40 WCF Ammo - 50 Rounds
Details
The .44 Winchester Center Fire (WCF) was introduced simultaneously with the Winchester 1873 rifle and carbine series of that year. It was the company’s first centerfire metallic cartridge and was embraced immediately by both shooters and competing companies as Colt and Marlin produced firearms in that caliber as well. Those competitors changed the caliber nomenclature to the .44-40 so as not to advertise for Winchester with their own products. The .44-40 shares the wild west spotlight with the .45 Long Colt as being the choice of cowboys and lawmen on the frontier for both defense and hunting. The 200 grain lead flat nosed bullet has a muzzle velocity of 1180 feet per second with 618 foot pounds of energy behind it. This is a great round for target shooting or single action competitive shooting. The flat nosed bullet also makes this a potential alternative for personal defense in areas where hollow point ammunition is prohibited.
Since 1990 Magtech has offered an increasingly broad range of calibers and bullet types for both range training as well as personal defense. Shooters find the economy with dependable performance to be perfect for range use, and the reloadable cases provide further value to those looking to handload their cartridges: not an unusual activity for those using this caliber.
