Details

The 1930’s saw American law enforcement searching for a higher performing cartridge than Smith & Wesson’s own .38 Special. In 1934 Smith & Wesson lengthened their proven .38 Special and included a larger primer to guarantee maximum powder burn. While developed for police work, the .357 Magnum is not a common law enforcement round today. Yet it remains a very popular choice among target shooters – competitive and casual – as well as for professional sporting hunters. Magtech’s 125 grain flat nosed full metal jacketed bullet has a muzzle velocity of 1405 feet per second with 548 foot pounds of energy. This is a good range training and target shooting round, even good for competitions. The flat nosed bullet is also a good choice for use in carbines that feed out of a tube magazine, a popular choice for medium game hunters. This bullet remains a good training option as the bullet has little to slow it down or transfer its energy into its target.

Magtech continues to provide quality target shooting and training ammunition at a competitive cost. As a part of the CBC group since 1990, Magtech is well established by reputation of both its initial performance as well as providing reloadable brass with its cartridges.

Bullet can come out of casing while shooting

  • Quality
We shoot a lot and this is the first time that a terrible accident almost happened. Our son and grandson went target shooting with several or your guns. Our son shot the 357 twice and then the cylinder, trigger, and hammer locked up. The third shell had the bullet slide out of the casing and jammed up. Powder poured out of the barrel, our son was able to get the cylinder to move and the bullet fell out into his hand. He was extremely lucky that the powder did not ignite when he shot the second shell. Our grandson was going to shoot the pistol but our son put the gun up as there where only the MAGTECH 357 MAGNUM (125gr) ammo and did not want to take the chance of a misfire because the bullet falls out of the casing and a spark could have caused a awful or deadly injury. The bullet is supposed to have ridges to help hold it in the casing, the bullet was smooth not ridged as it should have been. My suggestion is to make sure you wiggle the bullet and make sure it is not loose before shooting this ammo.
