Hornady - Z-MAX - 165 Grain 40 Smith & Wesson Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
Despite being replaced by the very round it was designed to replace in Federal service (the 9mm Luger), the .40 Smith & Wesson remains a very popular choice among law enforcement officers as well as civilian sport and defensive pistol users. That may be because of the caliber’s versatility in the two common calibers: the 180 grain is “heavy and slow” and shares similarities with a “hot” .45 ACP with greater magazine capacity while the 165 grain may be a bit more “snappy” yet delivers better ballistics to target. The Z Max 165 grain bullet by Hornady has a muzzle velocity of 1045 feet per second and 400 foot pounds of energy. This is a premium defensive round designed for maximum ballistics and energy transferal and expansion into the target.
Hornady has been making premium sporting and defensive ammunition since the 1960’s with its best bullet, the V Max series, as the best in performance. The Z-Max bullet is essentially the same bullet only with the pop culture branding of being against Zombies. While somewhat tongue in cheek, it is a quality product in an admittedly limited production run with green polymer tip instead of red.
