Details
Not all 44 Magnum cartridges are created equal. Some are loaded with Hornady’s eXtreme Terminal Performance projectile, whereas others are not!
This cartridge features the 240 grain XTP jacketed hollow point. Accurate? You bet. The XTP’s concentric jacket keeps its in-flight rotational stability solid, and its swaged lead core is totally uniform in density to similarly promote exceptional balance. Effective for self-defense and hunting? Without question. The XTP’s fully jacketed rim prevents damage to the nose cavity on impact. Afterward, the XTP’s symmetrically notched and progressively tapered jacket delivers fast yet uniform expansion which ensures superior energy transfer accompanied by a broad-diameter wound channel. The XTP’s jacket also wears a cannelure to prevent accuracy issues resulting from setback during recoil.
Hornady furnishes their XTP with a select brass case, as well as the expertly paired primer and propellant charge that guarantee consistent chamber pressure, recoil and muzzle velocity. (This round’s 1,350 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 7.5” vented barrel.)
