Hornady - V-MAX - 55 Grain 223 Remington Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
The 55 grain V-Max bullet by Hornady has a muzzle velocity of 3240 feet per second with 1282 foot pounds behind it. While perfectly suitable for target practice and range training, this cartridge is ideal for hunting small to mid- sized game – in many places it is legal for use against coyotes and the like - and also for civil defense.
Hornady’s V-Max bullet is well established for optimizing ballistic performance with maximizing terminal energy transferal into the target. Hornady itself is well established as a producer of premium sporting and defense ammunition, and has been so since their founding in the 1960’s when they began making ammunition under their own name. Their components are also sought after, whether new or once fired brass, by handloaders looking to manufacture their own custom cartridges.
Perhaps the most popular carbine (and now pistol) round in the US, the .223 Remington has established itself as a prominent varmint round in many of the accurized bolt action firearms. Yet it is undeniably popular by virtue of the overwhelming prominence of the AR series of rifles. This cartridge can also be fired out of chambers sized to 5.56 NATO and .223 Wylde (though the reverse is NOT recommended), adding versatility to its reasons to be embraced.
