Hornady - SST - 200 Grain 460 Smith & Wesson Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
Someone at Smith & Wesson said to themselves one day “the .454 Casull just isn’t big enough” and voila, the birth of the .460 Smith & Wesson. Introduced in 2005, the .460 S&W Magnum is essentially a lengthened Casull cartridge. As such, revolvers in this chambering are *usually* capable of also firing the .454, the .45 Long Colt and the .45 Schofield cartridges. But if one buys the .460, they generally want to shoot the .460. At least once.
This 200 grain, poly tipped jacketed hollow point bullet by Hornady leaves the muzzle at 2200 feet per second with 2149 foot pounds of force. This is twice as fast as a .44 Remington Magnum with about three times as much energy (and, of course, recoil). This is primarily for hunting something that needs to be put down fast and preferably with one shot. The poly tipped bullet, however, is also capable of being safely fired tube fed carbines, …just in case.
Hornady ammunition has been a trusted name in ammunition manufacture since the company started making cartridges in its own right in the 1960’s. For sport, hunting and personal defense, Hornady is what the professionals rely upon when they need their shots to matter. The poly tipped bullet design by Hornady offers superior aerodynamics while ensuring full expansion in the target so none of the substantial energy of this round is lost. Cases are also reloadable in case handloaders wish to produce something more manageable for range and training.
