Hornady - Jacketed Hollow Point - 158 Grain 357 Magnum Ammo - 25 Rounds
Details
A quality 357 magnum ammo with a hollow point that opens up both range training and self-defense possibilities.
Hornady is probably a name you've come to know and trust. Their 158 grain jacketed hollow point (JHP) 357 mag ammo delivers a muzzle velocity of 1250 feet per second and just under 550 foot pounds of muzzle energy. The JHP Extreme Terminal Performance (XTP) is the perfect compromise between penetration and wound expansion: it is almost exclusively a self defense round but most experts will suggest you try any ammo you're going to rely on in a life-and-death situation during at least a couple range sessions.
Introduced in 1934, the .357 magnum inaugurated the era of the magnum. Developed out of a stretched .38 special case and a larger primer, the .357 was in direct response to Colt's .38 Super and the demand by law enforcement to have a hotter round that could penetrate the ballistic vests then in vogue during the Gangster Era. It is a statement of the law's priorities of the time that the standard of acceptance was measured by whether or not the round could penetrate a circa 1930 car door.
After World War II, Hornady Manufacturing Company began acquiring surplus presses from the US government to begin ammunition jacket production. In 1964 they began full ammunition production. Today they are recognized as producing premium hunting ammunition as well as top shelf self defense ammunition. Not for burning up at the range, Hornady JHP XTP is what you load up with when the "Martians land."
