Hornady Match - Hollow Point Boat Tail - 110 Grain 6.8 SPC Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
In 2002 the US started looking at ways to upsize the 5.56mm NATO round, while keeping the AR-15/M-16 style service rifles in service. The 6.8 Special Purpose Cartridge is halfway between the 5.56 and the 7.62x39 rifle round in size and ballistic energy. While delivering the better energy that the developers were looking for, the cost of retrofitting all the US service rifles – specifically complete upper receiver and magazine replacement - was deemed to outweigh the economy of keeping the rifles in service. Never the less, the 6.8 SPC has been adopted by many civilian shooters seeking a more potent AR style rifle. The 110 grain hollow point, boat tail round has a muzzle velocity of 2570 feet per second with over 1600 foot pounds of energy. It has the best of penetration and expansion and is therefor perfect for self defense as well as hunting.
Hornady entered the firearms industry in the 1940s by making bullet jackets out of spent rimfire brass. By the 1960s they became known for premium defense and hunting ammunition. Boxer primed, brass cases are fully reloadable, but Hornady is chosen by shooters who need the first shot to count. Every time.
