Hornady BLACK 5.56x45 is perfect AR range ammo! But it gets even perfecter if you want M855 performance – minus the steel!

We can’t promise that this round’s 62 grain FMJ will offer identical ballistic performance to a real M855, SS109 or F1 projectile. It’s a fundamentally different bullet without a steel core, but it does have the same weight, diameter, profile and muzzle velocity (3,060 fps, 24” barrel) as the penetrator. In short, if you want to fire M855 at a range that doesn’t allow magnetic ammo, this is your best bet.
