Hornady - Flex Tip Technology - 225 Grain 45 Long Colt Ammo - 200 Rounds
Details
Introduced in 1873 by Colt for their new Single Action Army revolver, .45 Long Colt ammunition is virtually synonymous with the Wild West and Indian Wars of the American 19th century. While only modern firing replica Winchester rifles are also chambered in the caliber, “back in the day” it was only used in Colt firearms for personal defense and hunting at close range.
Hornady’s Flex Tip (FTX) jacketed hollow point bullet has a muzzle velocity of 960 feet per second with 460 foot pounds of energy. This is designed as a personal defense round or turning a modern replica into a close range deer rifle. The poly tipped bullet is safe for use in tube magazine carbines without accidentally setting off other rounds in the tube because of recoil.
Hornady ammunition continues to provide quality performance ammunition no matter what the caliber. This “granddaddy” round has lots of potential to it, especially when loaded into a carbine or rifle to squeeze every bit of energy out of it. Hornady components themselves are sought after by custom handloaders, but the company’s finished shells offer both premium initial results as well as reloadable cases providing further worth to reloading specialists.
