Hornady - Flex Tip Technology - 165 Grain 40 Smith & Wesson Ammo - 20 Rounds
Details
Introduced in 1990 as a replacement service round for the FBI, the .40 Smith & Wesson was designed to have better knock down potential than a 9mm but less recoil than the 10mm Auto. While recently replaced by the next generation of 9mm Luger calibers in many law enforcement agencies, many shooters still like the .40 for its defensive capabilities, as well as being a pleasure to shoot for those who like a little recoil in their target shooting. The 165 grain Flex Tip bullet by Hornady has a muzzle velocity of 1175 feet per second with 506 foot pounds of energy. The FTX is designed for maximum velocity with uniform expansion into the target. It is a premium round for defensive purposes, relied upon by law enforcement and concealed carriers alike.
Hornady’s reputation as a high quality defensive and sporting ammunition manufacturer has been established since the 1960’s after producing bullet jackets for the previous 20 years. The FTX rounds are very popular, especially with law enforcement officers who opt for this round in their off duty weapons. A greater testament of reliability would be harder to find. As always, Hornady is loaded in reloadable cases for additional value.
