FN Herstal - Full Metal Jacket - 27 Grain 5.7x28mm Ammo - 500 Rounds
Details
Introduced in 1990, the 5.7x28mm FN round was developed in response to a NATO tender looking for a replacement cartridge for the 9mm pistol cartridge. It needed better range and accuracy than the established round, but also was required to penetrate body armor. FN Herstal introduced the caliber with two firearms chambered for it that met all the requirements, with increased capacity included. While adoption of the round is widespread, it has yet to be made standard due to German preference to their own 4.6mm round. The 27 grain full metal jacket round by FN has a muzzle velocity of 2350 feet per second with 344 foot pounds of energy. This is not the AP round, but is ideal for target shooting – competitively or recreationally – as well as weapons training. 500 rounds offers a lot of opportunity for either.
Fabrique Nationale Herstal (FNH) was founded in 1889as the primary arms and munitions maker for the Belgian nation. At this date, they remain the largest arms and ammunition maker and exporter in western Europe; especially as a primary supplier of the NATO alliance. As the original manufacturer of the 5.7x28mm cartridge, FN was for a long time the only source of it. Today they are still sought after as being what the weapons for which they were made. Boxer primed cases are reloadable; assuming they can be recovered from the hyper velocity, direct blowback firearms they are designed.
