We love the 5.7x28mm. We wish more people would share our affinity for it, because increased demand would compel manufacturers to make 5.7x28mm in greater quantities and greater varieties. But so long as every redneck and his cousin sticks to the more conventional pistol cartridges, that day may never come.
No matter. Fiocchi is producing the good stuff at their Missouri factory, so we can rest assured we’ll have all the 5.7x28mm we’ll ever need.
This is not SS197SR spec ammo. It does have the same 1,750 fps muzzle velocity, and it does have a 40 grain polymer tipped bullet – but the bullet isn’t the Hornady V-MAX, which the SS197SR includes by definition. That said, Fiocchi’s tipped hollow point functions on the same principle: high-velocity collision forces the tip’s shaft to drive into the lead core’s underlying nose cavity, which ultimately causes terminal expansion. It’s effective terminal ballistics for personal protection, and the threat probably won’t be able to tell the difference.
Whether your preferred flavor of 5.7x28mm firearm happens to be a Ruger-5.7 or FN Five-seven, you can expect it to chug through Fiocchi’s high-quality brass-cased, noncorrosive and nonmagnetic ammo without fail. Great for varmint hunting with a Ruger LC Carbine, too!
