Details
This is not 223 Rem ammo. It will not work in 223 Rem or 5.56x45 firearms.
This 224 Valkyrie cartridge is loaded with a 75 grain total metal jacket projectile. Unlike a more conventional FMJ, the TMJ features a gilding metal jacket which totally surrounds its lead core – including its base.
Shooters often choose TMJ bullets because they do not produce aerosolized lead that can accumulate inside an indoor range. Obviously, there’s not very much reason to fire a long-range target round at an indoor range, but a TMJ still has its advantages while you’re firing outdoors:
1. The TMJ reduces lead fouling, which helps preserve a rifle’s accuracy.
2. The TMJ’s base undergoes less deformation during ignition, which similarly promotes accuracy.
3. The TMJ still reduces the shooter’s exposure to lead vapor even while they are firing outside, which is never a bad thing.
Once it achieves its advertised muzzle velocity of 3,000 fps, this round’s bullet exhibits a nice even G1 BC of 0.400. If sights are 1.5” high and zero is 200 yards, then 300-yard drop is likely to be approximately -6.9”. Very nice. And because this is Minnesota’s preeminent ammo manufacturer we’re talking about, the ammo’s new brass cases are just as high-quality as they are repeatedly reloadable.
