Details

You don’t need a fancy bullet for a 38 Special or 357 Magnum revolver. When you’re just shooting a target, all you need to get the job done is a big, bare chunk of dense, toxic lead.

This 38 Spl cartridge wears a simple 158 grain lead round nose bullet. It’s unjacketed, just like the cowpokes used. The LRN contains zero copper, a metal which is (A) expensive, and (B) brittle enough to deflect shrapnel back at the firing line. A solid lead bullet makes a safer choice for target practice when you’re shooting steel at close range.

This round’s unjacketed bullet will treat your wheelgun to more barrel fouling, but it will also produce similar recoil and ballistic performance to those of a standard pressure self-defense load. The round’s stated 770 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 4” barrel, so expect a lower velocity from a snub nose.

American Eagle ammunition is loaded in Minnesota by Federal Premium and features reloadable brass cases. If you don’t handload yet, 38 Special is a great place to start!
