This 9mm cartridge from Federal’s Law Enforcement line of ammunition features a 124 grain HST projectile. A cannelure in the HST’s shank mechanically binds its jacket and core together, enabling it to retain virtually 100 percent of its weight -- even if it must first pass through one of a variety of common urban barriers en route to its target. The HST’s coaligned core and external jacket skives both enable it to expand greatly during penetration, and its nose cavity is is designed to avoid becoming clogged with debris for reliable terminal performance. That this bullet avoids overpenetration so well makes it ideal for self-defense where bystander safety is an issue.

This round feeds reliably as well, courtesy of its bullet’s specially designed profile as well as its sleek nickel plated brass casing. That latter feature further protects this round against corrosion, and makes it a great deal easier to spot during a rushed chamber check in low lighting.
