40 S&W - 180 Grain FMJ - Federal American Eagle - 50 Rounds
Details
This 180 grain full metal jacket round has a muzzle velocity just over the 1,000 feet per second with just about 400 foot pounds of muzzle energy. That is the slower of the .40 S&W ammo cartridges, ideal for use at the range without inspiring too much recoil fatigue. It is perfect for keeping your .40 well fed and cared for.
Blasting onto the ammunition scene in 1990, the .40 Smith & Wesson is essentially a 10mm short, firing the same sized bullet out of a shortened case in the effort to reduce the stiffer recoil of the 10. The .40 S&W does have less recoil, but only when compared to its parent cartridge, which is what the FBI was looking for in their search for a stout, but not too stout round.
Making ammunition since the 1920's in the back woods of Minnesota, Federal is a trusted name of premier ammunition manufacturing. The American Eagle branding is recognized as being ideal for target, competition and introduction shooting: premier quality ammo at bargain pricing. The red and black label boxes are a common sight at ranges and for good reason. Made with boxer primers set in cases of brass, these rounds are also appreciated by shooters for reloading value.
