We don’t really watch Hollywood movies. When we hear the words “Top Gun,” we don’t think about a movie where some guy pretends to know how to fly planes. We think about Federal Premium’s tried and trusted target ammo – precisely the ticket if you want to shoot skeet or trap (or sporting clays) with your 20 Gauge shotgun.
This shell has pretty standard specs for a target load. You’ve got your 7/8 ounce charge of #8 shot, which puts 359 pellets downrange without weighing too much for competition. You’ve also got your 1,210 fps muzzle velocity, which gives you good control over targets dozens of yards downrange without bucking you too hard with recoil.
Each Top Gun shell is loaded in Minnesota with a recoil-softening collapsible plastic wad, a noncorrosive primer, and powder that burns at a nice, steady rate to help keep kick at a minimum. Federal’s hard lead shot isn’t high antimony, but it still stays round enough to dish out predictably uniform patterns.
