Why did Federal decide that a 16 Gauge shotshell should be purple? Because purple is a royal color – and guys who hunt with 16 Gauge shotguns are all kings. So here you go, your highness: a whole kingly case of Federal’s Minnesota-made Game Load ammunition, for your hunting pleasure!
This ammo is perfect for when you’re taking aim at smaller game. Its single ounce of #8 shot still contains more lead balls than a 12 Gauge round loaded with 1-1/8 ounces of #7.5, so you’re going to let a commanding spread loose on your flighty quarry. It’s quite decent shot, too: optimally hard and consistently round, which are precisely the qualities that promote consistently tight patterning.
We probably don’t have to tell a 16 Gauge enthusiast that finding 16 Gauge ammo can be difficult. Fortunately, Federal’s nifty high-brass ammo is highly reloadable. (Technically those caps are made of brass-plated steel, but an ace handloader should have little difficulty reforming them.)
