This cartridge is loaded with a lead hollow point. It has no copper plating to reduce the rate of barrel fouling, but it has got the nose cavity it needs to kill small game just a little bit harder. Although the bullet’s weight is perfectly normal at 40 grains, it just isn’t backed by enough propellant to clear a rifle’s barrel at supersonic velocity. You’ll hear a much softer report – especially if you’re firing through a suppressor – as well as witness the kind of accuracy a bullet can only pull off when it totally avoids transonic destabilization.
