CCI introduced their Blazer brand of aluminum cased ammunition in 1981. Their engineers initially had trouble getting their novel casings to extract, only to realize that the science published on heat treating aluminum was pretty much limited to larger airplane parts at the time. But they figured out the trick, and in doing so now offer an exceptional way to save money on shooting -- aluminum is a lot more economical than brass, and a great buy so long as you don’t mind owning casings that you can’t handload!

This 40 S&W cartridge features a heavyweight 180 grain projectile. Its muzzle velocity is subsonic at 1,000 fps, giving it more pronounced drop downrange while making it a great choice for a suppressed handgun. It wears a full metal jacket, ideal for target shooting and training when you want a cost-effective bullet that won’t cause rapid fouling of the bore.
