40 S&W - 180 Grain FMJ - Blazer Brass - 50 Rounds

The 180 grain .40 S&W Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) is the "larger and slower" version with a muzzle velocity of 985 feet per second with 388 foot lbs. With slightly less recoil, it is ideal for target shooting, but can serve for self defense in situations where hollow point ammunition is forbidden. This product is a single box of 40 SW ammo that contains 50 rounds ready to fire for either purpose.

The .40 Smith & Wesson cartridge was the end result of the FBI's search for a more potent round than the .38sp and 9mm after the infamous 1986 shootout in Miami. A shorter 10mm case using the small pistol primer met the FBI's specifications to have a stronger round without the considerably greater recoil inherent in the 10mm.
