Details

This 45-70 Government cartridge by Black Hills Ammunition has the same bullet that it did back in the 1870s: a 405 grain lead flat point. Target shooters appreciate an all-lead bullet, which is cost-effective yet plenty accurate so they can impress their friends at the range. This bullet’s broad tip lets it cut a cleaner hole through paper to facilitate the scoring process, and won’t accidentally ignite the primer it touches while loaded in a tubular magazine. And while the LFP doesn’t boast a bunch features that would make it more effective for hunting, we wouldn’t want to run into the kind of buck that could ignore this round’s terminal effect.

Kimber, Heckler & Koch, Sturm Ruger – even Browning, a company that makes their own ammunition, all count on Black Hills for the ammo they need to test out their firearms. All branches of the U.S. Military currently get their 5.56x45 ammo from the South Dakotan expert as well. You can count on Black Hills to give a round the brass shell casing it needs to cycle and chamber properly. This classic round has still got the non-corrosive primer and smokeless propellant that today’s shooters want, too!
