Fiocchi Perfecta - Full Metal Jacket - 170 Grain 40 Smith & Wesson - 50 Rounds
Details
.40 Smith & Wesson ammo was designed from the beginning and a law enforcement round to provide 10mm Auto ballistics with easier to manage recoil. In the 1980s the FBI found that the increased reloading speed of a semi auto with a round that had more terminal ballistics than the .38 Sp +P revolver round was very desirable. While the 10mm initially delivered the end results sought after, it came with a recoil that few agents could maintain accuracy with, especially in follow up shots. A shorter round meant both less recoil and wider availability of firearms for selection with a retrofit for most 9mm already in production.
The 170 grain, full metal jacketed bullet by Fiocchi’s Perfecta line has a muzzle velocity of 1099 feet per second with 1280 foot pounds of energy. Nestled in between the common bullet weights for this caliber, it is meant to simulate performance ammunition at the range. This ammo comes packaged in a box with 50 rounds inside. We also carry a full case of this same exact round in a bulk 40 S&W ammo 1,000 round package here.
Italy’s Fiocchi munitions has been on the crest of every new development in the metallic cartridges since the beginning in the late 19th century. Pioneers of not only primer design, they have also explored various propellant mixtures to achieve optimum performance with reduced fouling – it seems US shooters are infamous for wanting to clean their firearms and the Perfecta line stands out as being one of the cleanest range ammo around.
