Federal Blaclcloud 3" BBB Shot 1-1/4 oz. 12 Gauge Ammo - 25 Rounds
Details
For sporting purposes, the 12 gauge has very few parallels during any period of the modern age. When used for home defense, it has always served faithfully. Equally so for sporting purposes, yet that does not mean it cannot be modified to suit modern requirements. With hunting water fowl, for example, many areas have required the use of steel shot over lead. Steel has different ballistic characteristics from lead: it is lighter and therefore can achieve higher velocities and penetrating deeper. Because it weighs less, more shot is required to get to the same weight as lead. Additionally, because it leaves the muzzle at increased velocities, steel tends to have a tighter pattern than lead out of the same choke. Federal’s 1.25 ounce, 3” shell fires approximately 77 pellets of .19” or 4.8mm pellets, size BBB shot, at up to 1450 feet per second. Special attention should be made that the firearm is capable of chambering and cycling 3” shells.
Federal Ammunition has been pioneering the use of steel shot, which has become the only legal shot for use in America’s waterways for environmental concerns, since before it has first been proposed. The different characteristics of steel over lead alone has made it a challenging prospect. Federal’s solutions include Flite Control Flex wadding for improved patterns.
